Menstrual Education in Sports
March – April 2026
In 2026, The Red Poppy Initiative in Washington met and worked with Representative Salahuddin in a partnership to write a bill requiring school sports coaches statewide to learn about menstrual health prior to gaining their professional licenses.

March 2026
On March 18th, Natalie attended the online UN conference centered on women’s health in Ukraine to discuss women’s equity in the Ukraine-Russia War and present as a youth representative.

Washington State Legislature Lobbying
November 2024 – March 2025
Lobbied to 6 Washington State Senators to push legislation that helps female students with periods in school, and to share personal experiences with students and menstruation.

OSPI Curriculum Planning
January – February 2025
Worked with OSPI Head Lauri Dils to advance menstrual health education at the state level via academic programs and website planning.
Details
OSPI, or the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, serves to develop and revise Washington State’s learning standards, and oversees 295 school districts in the state.
In 2025, The Red Poppy Initiative partnered with OSPI head Lauri Dils, Director of Sexual Health Education, to rewrite Washington menstrual curricula, lesson plans, website revamp, and curriculum standards about menstruation for the Educational Service District (ESD).
